He released his debut extended play U on September 4, 2020. Liu started as a model before crossing over to acting and gained popularity in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea, and Japan. He is referred to as "Taiwanese Rain" by the Taiwanese media due to his resemblance to the Korean star Rain.
